Lea Salonga’s Feinstein’s/54 Below Cabaret Show to Stream Online
UPDATE: As of June 12, Feinstein’s/54 Below has announced that all streaming shows are currently paused. You can check their website later this summer for any new dates.
Feinstein’s/54 Below, the New York nightclub known as “Broadway’s Living Room,” will be streaming Lea Salonga’s full cabaret show for free on June 13 for one night only.
As a response to the COVID-19 crisis, the club launched #54BelowAtHome, a series of shows taken from the Feinstein’s/54 Below archives that will be streamed as one-time only events on YouTube at a scheduled date and time. The series was launched on March 25 and will continue through July. The show was part of Salonga’s critically-acclaimed and record-breaking run of 15 sold-out shows in 2017.
Salonga performed a combination of her favorite standards, pop songs, and Broadway ballads. Among the songs included are the Beatles’ “Blackbird,”, Leon Russell’s “A Song for You,” Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” John Legend’s “All of Me,” One Direction’s “Story of My Life”, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Tracey Chapman’s “Fast Car,” and a mashup of James Ingram and Patti Austin’s “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?” and Irving Berlin’s “How Deep is the Ocean?”
She also treated the audience to an epic medley of her iconic songs from “Miss Saigon,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” “Les Misérables,” and “Allegiance.” She was supported on the piano by her musical director Larry Yurman and on the guitar by Jack Cavari.
The full show will be available on the Feinstein’s/54 Below YouTube channel on June 13, 6:30 PM EST (June 14, 6:30 AM Manila time.)
