An approaching election sees our national heroes turning up their graves. Because of the current Philippine situation, our heroes plot on Rizal’s return to run as the next president. Should he or should he not go back? And in whose hands do the fate of the country truly lie?
Discover the conflict behind the return of our national heroes this July as DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild brings you back in time for another run of Rizal Is My President. Originally, it was mounted last 2009 in preparation for the 2010 national elections. Premiered in Ateneo De Manila University, it was toured in 6 Universities across Metro Manila in partnership with the Organizational Change Consultant Inc. and Knights of Rizal. Since 2015, it has been part of the DLSU Culture and Arts Office’s Art in Action (Theatre) Series.
Now on its way to Sta. Rosa Laguna as means of promoting a “Creative Campus”, this is the 2nd Major Production in the DLSU Science and Technology Complex after the success of “In a Grove: Four Japanese Ghost Stories” by Eric Coble. It features the DLSU-STC Members as the product of the integration between the DLSU-Manila and Canlubang campus. These members are vocally trained under the guidance of Ms. Maria Recielle Corcega Cosare, a music teacher in the DLSU Integrated School.
Inspired by the “40 leadership tips from Dr. Jose Rizal” by Napoleon G. Almonte, written by Palanca Awardee and alumna of DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild, Joshua Lim So, original songs written by Noel Cabangon and directed by Romualdo “Raffy” Tejada.
Rizal Is My President will show on July 13-15, 2016, Wednesday (4:30 PM) and Thursday & Friday (10:00 AM & 4:30 PM) at the Milagros R. Del Rosario Auditorium, De La Salle University – Science and Technology Complex, Sta. Rosa Laguna. The show is open to all Lasallians and Non-Lasallian. Ticket Price at PHP 150.00.
