Fans of the musical comedy TV series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist were saddened to know that the show was not going to be renewed after its second season.

Good news is, the show will have new life as a feature-length holiday film just in time for the Christmas season. It will be available via The Roku Channel in the US and will be available to stream via Roku in the UK and Canada. It will be The Roku Channel’s first-ever original film. Entitled Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, the film will pick up right where season two left off.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist centers on Zoey, a young woman who discovers that she has the ability to hear the innermost thoughts of people around her as songs and musical numbers. In its second season, the show continued to explore the feelings we keep buried on the inside, the human impulse for connection, and the undeniable healing power of music and dance. Following a tragedy, Zoey and the Clarke family began to recalibrate and navigate their new normal. As she found herself in a new dynamic at work and in her love life, Zoey’s musical powers continued to both awkwardly complicate and inform her worldview as she attempted to rediscover joy and connect with those around her.

The stars of the series– Jane Levy, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Andrew Leeds, Alice Lee, Michael Thomas Grant, Kapil Talwalkar, David St. Louis, and Mary Steenburgen, as well as Peter Gallagher and Bernadette Peters, will all return for the film.
