WATCH: ‘West Side Story’ Musical Releases Another Teaser!
Excited for the major Steven Spielberg-directed remake? It won’t be long now before it’s here, but in the meantime, a new ‘special look’ video has been released to tide you over.
The remake will star newcomer Rachel Zegler as Maria, Ansel Elgort as Tony, Ariana DeBose as Anita, David Alvarez as Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera as Chino, Brian d’Arcy James as Officer Krupke, Corey Stoll as Lieutenant Schrank, and Rita Moreno as Valentina.
Other cast members include Mike Faist, Ezra Menas, Paloma Garcia-Lee, David and Jacob Guzman, Ricky Ubeda, Ben Cook, Sara Esty, Garett Hawe, Talia Ryder, Tanairi Vazquez, Eloise Kropp, Kevin Csolak, and Jess LeProtto.
West Side Story is inspired and a take on modern-day Romeo and Juliet set in the Upper West Side of New York where two street gangs fight over the control of the neighborhood. A complication arises as Tony fell in love with a rival gang member’s sister named Maria.
Based on the 1957 Broadway musical of the same name by Leonard Bernstein, with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Arthur Laurents, the upcoming film will feature a screenplay by Tony Kushner and choreography by Justin Peck.
West Side Story will hit the theaters on December 10.
