Romantic Comedy “Stage Kiss” Opens this Valentine’s Season
Romantic comedy Stage Kiss is Repertory Philippines’ season opener for its 2020 season.
Starring Missy Maramara and Tarek El Tayech as She and He, Stage Kiss follows an out-of-work stage actress (She) who auditions for the lead in a forgettable 1930’s melodrama. When her romantic c0-star (He) walks in on the first day of rehearsals, it turns out to be her real-life ex! Now, He and She will have to tackle their underlying feelings for each other while playing onstage lovers, all while sharing many, many stage kisses. Are they still actors playing a scene, or offstage lovers in a moment of passion?
Life simulates art and art simulates in this play-within-a-play. With a book by American playwright Sarah Ruhl, Stage Kiss will be directed by Carlos Siguion-Reyna. Joining Maramara and El Tayech in the cast are Robbie Guevara, Jamie Wilson, Andres Borromeo, Justine Narciso, Mica Pineda, and pianist Nick Nañgit.
Also in the creative team are Ohm David (set design), Dennis Marasigan (lighting design), Bonsai Cielo (costume design), Jethro Joaquin (sound design), and PJ Rebullida (choreography).
The show will run from February 7 to March 1 at the Onstage Theater of Greenbelt 1.
