Now Streaming: ‘The Nutcracker’ by Ballet Manila is Online
Ballet Manila’s 2013 production of The Nutcracker is streaming online only until January 1, 2022.
The production was one of the productions in Ballet Manila’s CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde’s Swan Song Series, her 3-year retirement plan where she performed some of the most iconic roles in classical ballet for the last time.
The cast features Macuja-Elizalde as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Rudy De Dios as the Nutcracker Prince, Michelle Elizalde as Little Masha, Alvin Santos as Fritz, Marcus Tolentino as Drosselmeyer, Roduardo Ma as Harlequin Doll, Mylene Aggabao-Salgado as Columbine and Chinese, Michael Divinagracia as Moor, Abigail Oliveiro as Lead Parent and Lead Snowflake, Repado Marino as Lead Parent, Harold Salgado as King Rat and Arabian, Honyoung Yang as Lead Snowflake, Jan Erika Basilio and Francis Cascaño as Spanish, Joan Sia as Arabian, Gerardo Francisco as Chinese, Dawna Mangahas, Marika Capati, and Francis Jaena as the Russians, Jessa Balote, Rissa May Camaclang, and Alvin Santos as Pas de Trois, and Sofia Sangco-Peralta, Elpidio Magat, Tiffany Chiang, Romeo Peralta, Hyo-Bi Lee, Alfren Salgado, Jun Won Shin, and Manny Febra as the Rose Waltz Leads.
The music is by Peter Tchaikovsky, with choreography by Vassily Vainonen and restaging by Osias Barroso, Eileen Lopez, and Jonathan Janolo, featuring the Manila Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Alexander Vikulov. The show was recorded from the Aliw Theater.
