“Jagged Little Pill” Cast Album Drops on Spotify!
Jagged Little Pill, the musical inspired by Alanis Morissette’s album of the same name, began Broadway previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 3. The musical’s full cast album has just dropped on Spotify, a week before the production officially opens on December 5!
Written by Diablo Cody, with lyrics by Alanis Morissette, and music by Morissette and Glen Ballard, Jagged Little Pill is about a family grappling with uncomfortable truths about urgent issues affecting our world today. Featuring Morissette’s iconic songs including Ironic, You Oughta Know, and Hand In My Pocket, plus brand-new songs written for the show, the musical is inspired by themes and emotions from Morissette’s Grammy Award-winning album.
The story follows Mary Jane Healy, a high-achieving homemaker who will do anything for her family, including their adopted African-American daughter Frankie, who is struggling to find her place in their lily-white community. But when the Healys’ lives begin to unravel, Mary Jane’s drive to keep her family together threatens to break them apart.
The cast features Kathryn Gallagher (Bella), Celia Rose Gooding (Frankie Healy), Derek Klena (Nick Healy), Sean Allan Krill (Steve Healy), Lauren Patten (Jo), and Elizabeth Stanley (Mary Jane Healy). The ensemble members include Annelise Baker, Yeman Brown (Swing), Jane Bruce, John Cardoza, Antonio Cipriano, Ken Wulf Clark, Laurel Harris, Logan Hart, Zach Hess (Swing), Max Kumangai, Heather Lang, Ezra Menas, Kelsey Orem (Swing), Yana Perrault (Swing), Nora Schell, Kei Tsuruharatani, and Ebony Williams.
The show is directed by Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin), with music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then), and movement direction and choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
