You can now watch a 20-minute musical entitled Dimas Ayaran, presented by Lapis, The Commission on Human Rights, and Pocketplay Philippines.
Written by Gary Granada (libretto and music) and directed by Caitlin Caseñas, the musical follows the life of Pio Valenzuela, a physician and a revolutionary leader who used the alias Dimas Ayaran as a katipunero.
The cast features Ebe Dancel as Pio Valenzuela, Pepe Herrera as Emilio Jacinto, Dong Abay as Andres Bonifacio, Noel Cabangon as Jose Rizal, Bodjie Pascua as Matandang Pio, Cooky Chua as Marina Dizon, Bayang Barrios as Gregoria De Jesus, Lolita Carbon as Melchora Aquino, Agat Morallos as Angelica Lopez, JA Quintana as Trinidad Tecson, Peter Bacatan as Raymundo Mata, Faye Yupano as Josephine Bracken, Bobby Balingit as Pantaleon Torres, Loonie as the Rapper, Tribu as the Battle Rappers, and Janiyah Tan and Agel Morallos as Batang Mag-aaral.
Also in the creative team are Mel Villena (musical director), Dominic Benedicto (sound engineer), Melvin Morallos (choir director), and the AMP Band (orchestra).
