At 9pm last night, senior thespian and theater director Soxie Topacio passed away from lung cancer at 65 years old. His most recent directorial works included ‘Bona’ starring Eugene Domingo and Nicanor Tiongson’s modern re-telling of Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere in ‘Noli at Fili Dekada Dos Mil’.
As one of PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association)’s senior resident artist-teachers, Topacio won this year’s Natatanging Gawad Buhay for Lifetime Achievement at this year’s Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards.
Philippine theater artists have shared their messages of love on social media.
Rest In Peace, Soxy Topacio. Sigh……..
