‘The Notebook’ Musical Sets Stage Premiere
The Broadway-bound musical The Notebook is set for a world premiere by Chicago Shakespeare Theater at The Yard from March 15 to April 24, 2022.
It is based on Nicholas Spark’s best-selling novel-turned-film The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes which starred Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. It is a love story between Noah Calhoun and Allison Hamilton who met in the summer of 1940 in South Carolina resulting in an unforgettable summer romance. Their love story continued for a lifetime despite their differences and the challenges they came across.
The musical will be directed by Broadway Directors Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (Aida). Music and lyrics will be by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson with a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (This is Us).
The musical was previously workshopped featuring Vanessa Hudgens, Once on this Island’s Hailey Kilgore, and Jagged Little Pill’s Antonio Cipriano.
Further details about this upcoming production are yet to be announced.
