‘The Little Mermaid’ Disney Live-Action Announces Release Date
Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid will be hitting the big screen on May 26, 2023.
The live-action remake is Disney’s take on the animated classic of the same name that premiered in 1989, based on the 1837 Danish fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. It will feature original songs by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and also new songs by Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The Little Mermaid will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, Miranda, Marc Platt, and John DeLuca, with a script by David Magee and Jane Goldman.
The titular role will be played by Halle Bailey along with Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Additional cast members include Noma Dumezweni and Jessica Alexander.
