Tabsing Kolektib Celebrates National Literature Month with ‘Kikomachine Komix’

In line with the National Literature Month, Tabsing Kolektib has adapted the famous comics into a stage play. Named after the 7th issue of the comics, “Sorrowful, Sorrowful Mysteries” is composed of three one-act plays and will be directed by acclaimed playwright and director Eljay Castro Deldoc, with Jules Rivera and Mariel Abareta as assistant directors.

The first of three, Langit, Lupa, Impyerno, written by Timothy Lagundi, is the story of Casper, a transwoman ghost and her journey towards redemption, revenge, and acceptance. Is there a place for transgenders in heaven or is heaven a place on earth?

Meanwhile sa Alternate Universe is a story of a test of friendship that will turn a barkada’s beach getaway into chaos as each one’s secret is revealed. Will they overcome the obstacles or will they seek to be in an alternate universe? Written by Tush Contreras, it delves into the dynamics of romance and friendship.

It Never Ends, written by Francinn Hubag, tells the story of Melai and her new-found friend who were locked in an uncomfortable place for hours. How will they transcend the walls of confinement and discover the mysteries of their childhood that their freedom in the outside world had never unfolded?

Sorrowful, Sorrowful Mysteries’ cast includes Eunize Milante, Ivan Malaluan, Bianca Meer, Christian Cuevas, Renzo Villanueva, Jaira Roxas, Rica Cadiente, Chino Guerrero, Paul Alcala, Jasmin Baniquett, Marc Castillo, and Earl Dulay.

The production boasts of a formidable artistic team: Earl Dulay (Lights Designer), Michelle Biggayan (Set Designer), and Paul Alcala (Technical Director).

Sorrowful, Sorrowful Mysteries will run from April 25 to April 27, 2017 with 4pm and 7pm shows. This will be staged at the Makiling Ballroom Hall, Student Union Bldg., UPLB.
