Dalanghita Productions Returns to the Stage with Tatlong Linggong Pag-ibig

Naaalala mo ba yung tamis ng unang halik? Eh yung pait ng una ‘mong break-up? Yung first date mo? Yung huling beses na masaya kayo? Yung maliliit na away na biglang lumalaki? Dalanghita Productions proudly presents its 2016 production “Tatlong Linggong Pag-ibig” – a three weekend theater treat of six original one-act Filipino productions in a musical or a play featuring the country’s noted playwrights, directors, musical directors and actors.

“Tatlong Linggong Pag-ibig” is set to open on November 11 and shall run until November at Power Mac Center Spotlight – Level 2, Circuit Lane, Circuit Makati, A.P. Reyes Ave., Brgy. Big Carmona, Makati City.

The featured productions for Set A are as follows:

1. Isanlibong Taon

Playwright: Pertee Brinas, Music: Ejay Yatco, Director: Guelan Luarca

SYNOPSIS:
The play is set in the early 90’s, where Philip comes back to his hometown in Palawan, two years of pursuing greener grass in Manila. He returns to the ‘backward’ society to be reunited with his beloved, only to find out that he has to make a decision that would change his life forever. In a land dominated by principles, religion, and societal norms, Philip’s own disposition in life is challenged by illogical, irrational, inconvenient matters of the heart.

2. Mula Sa Kulimliman

Playwright: Carlo Vergara, Director: Hazel Gutierrez

SYNOPSIS:
Estranged from her parents, an ordinary housewife is faced with a shocking truth about her husband, and she is forced to question whether her life had all been a fantasy, and if the fantastic were actually real.

“Mula sa Kulimliman” was first staged during the 12th Virgin Labfest last June, and was selected as one of the three plays to be restaged in next year’s festival.

3. Malapit Man, Malayo Rin

Playwright: Chris Martinez, Director: Melvin Lee

SYNOPSIS:
The Manila traffic problem becomes a roadblock to a couple’s brewing love affair. The man is from the ‘North’, and the woman is from the ‘South’. Who is to blame for the roadblocks on this relationship? As the couple meet to celebrate their 3rd monthsary, they decide to make an important decision on their relationship.

1. Corazon Negro

Playwright: Layeta Bucoy, Music: Joed Balsamo, Director: Tuxqs Rutaquio

Corazon Negro is a sung through, one-act play musical chronicling the unrequited love of Maestra, a Filipino teacher during the Spanish period who falls in love with grave digger Honorato. Unfortunately, the latter is in love with church queriada Iluminada. In loving Honorato, placing his well-being before hers, Maestra is forced to deal with one of love’s cruel realities: that loving someone may lead to an imposition of one’s own values, that though such values may aid the beloved in fulfilling his potentials, unrequited love may just be bitterness springing from a heart blackened by an overwhelming sense of self-entitlement.

2. Rom.Com

Playwright & Director: George De Jesus III

SYNOPSIS:
Beth is a wedding planner, a hopeless romantic and William is a graphic artst, a cynical realist. They meet like in a romantic comedy where opposites tend to fall for each other. But unlike the template and clichés of a romantic comedy, Beth and William finds that love is messier and not as easy to dissect and analyze.

3. Ang Una at Comeback Album ni Pete

Playwright & Music: Juan Miguel Severo, Director: Mara Paulina Marasigan

SYNOPSIS:
Pete, an ex-child star, is certain that he has what it takes to stage a successful return to the spotlight, this time as a singer-songwriter with a concept album based on the characters of Peter Pan. However, the competitiveness of show business requires a gimmick to ensure their success and it prompted Pete’s manager to recruit the help of Pinoy Pride and West End’s rising star, Darlene, who also happens to be Pete’s first love. The past begins to takes over the band rehearsals and starts to create a rift in the songwriter’s budding romance with Diwata, the heartbreakingly hopeful band roadie eager to get her own chance to shine.
