British Council’s Connecting Through Culture is Awarding Grants to Artists

British Council

The third round of the British Council’s Connections Through Culture (CTC) arts mobility grant, promoting art and cultural exchange between the UK and Southeast Asia, is open until 31 January 2020. Launched in August 2019, this grants programme is for those who work in the visual arts, architecture, music, dance, design, fashion, theatre, literature, film and combined arts.

The first two rounds of CTC have supported over 20 projects so far. The grant provides exciting cultural exchange between artists, arts professionals and arts organisations; nurturing cooperation and long-lasting relationships between the UK and six Southeast Asian countries: Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Following similar initiatives in China and Taiwan, applicants from the six Southeast Asia countries and the UK are eligible to apply for the mobility grants valued from £2,500 to £5,000. They may use the grants for self- directed travels to meet with specialists, peers in the field and potential collaborators in the UK and in Southeast Asia. Through the programme, the British Council helps participants to break new ground, support creativity and innovation and connect the most exciting established and emerging counterparts in East Asia to the best of UK creativity.

Successful grantees of the third round will be announced on 2 March 2020 for visits in May-July 2020.
