Ang Huling El Bimbo is set to close after tonight’s 8pm show. It will have played 115 performances.

During the curtain call of today’s matinee, Kingson Sian, president and CEO of Resorts World Manila, announced the company’s next production.

After thanking the cast and crew, Sian says, “150,000 people would have watched [Ang Huling El Bimbo] by tonight. Amazing. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. To Ely, Raimund, Marcus, and Buddy, maraming salamat for gifting us your brand of music. Your music will always be in our hearts for generations to come.”

He adds, “The success of this show only proves that there is an audience and market for long-running original Filipino productions in a big theater like this. This gives us a lot of encouragement and motivation to continue what we’re doing, which is producing original Filipino musicals through our Full House Theater production company as well as providing college scholarships to future generations of performing artists through our OPPA foundation.”

Sian then begins to tease the audience about their next production. “Since sinamahan niyo kami on our last day of Huling El Bimbo, gusto ko naman na mauna kayo at malaman niyo kung ano iyung next production namin next year in 2020. They’re opening mid-next year. It will be another Filipino original musical with another Philippine iconic band.” The orchestra and some dancers from Resorts World Manila then performed a dance number of the song Bongga ka Day.

Bongga Ka Day, an OPM musical that uses the music of 70’s OPM band Hotdog, will be coming to the Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2020. Further details about the show will be announced soon.
