You’ve heard of The Grinch, but did you know that he had a disgruntled cousin called Mr. Finch? He is the protagonist of a new musical comedy to be streamed this December, performed by an all-star Broadway cast. 

You’re a Green One, Mr. Finch in concert will be streaming free for the benefit of the Broadway Green Alliance, a committee of The Broadway League that works closely with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to identify and disseminate better practices for theater professionals and fans.

You’re a Green One, Mr. Finch is the untold story of Mr. Finch, the Grinch’s cousin, who wants to make the holiday season all about him. But he soon learns to appreciate the value of a green and sustainable holiday.

The concert will star Tony winner Idina Menzel (Wicked), George Salazar (Be More Chill), Michael James Scott (Aladdin); The Fates of HadestownJewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad; Jagged Little Pill cast members Elizabeth Stanley, DeAnne Stewart, and Laurel Harris; Ben Cameron (Footloose), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Lesli Margherita (Zorro), Javier Muñoz (Hamilton), and the Broadway Princess Party: Susan Egan (Belle), Laura Osnes (Cinderella), and Courtney Reed (Jasmine). The company will likewise feature members of the Broadway and national tour companies of Wicked and Green Captains (sustainable leaders of a production) from across the United States.

The concert was written and directed by David Alpert, with musical direction by Evan Roider, video editing by Alex Trivane, and choreography by Travante S. Baker and Alicia Newcom.

The special will stream on December 18 at 8 PM ET (December 19 at 9AM Philippine Time) on Playbill.com

While free to watch, donations are encouraged to support the Broadway Green Alliance, which did not receive its annual funds this year due to the pandemic.
