‘Wicked’, ‘Emilia Pérez’ Movie Musicals Earn Best Picture Oscar Nods
Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang have just announced the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards from the Film Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, with Conan O’Brien as host.
Nominations across 23 categories have been revealed, with the musical films Wicked and Emilia Pérez earning an impressive 10 and 13 nods, respectively, including Best Picture. Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) and Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) have secured coveted nominations for Actress in a Leading Role, while Ariana Grande (Wicked) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) received anticipated nominations for Actress in a Supporting Role.
