The producers of WICKED are delighted to announce that due to huge demand for tickets they are adding one final week of shows to the Manila season. Presented by Globe LIVE, the West End and Broadway musical phenomenon that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz is now playing at The Theatre at Solaire until 19 March 2017.

After kicking off the season with a positively Ozmopolitan Gala last week, Wicked continues to play to packed houses and standing ovations night after night. Both media and audiences alike have praised this new international production. “Wicked still soars!” said ABSCBN News, and the Philippine STAR said “It’s not hard to see why this musical has endeared itself to many a generation throughout the years”. BusinessWorld shares that “GOD is in the details in good productions like Wicked” and website Rappler enthused “Wicked enchants and mesmerizes on so many levels; your appreciation deepens every time.”

Similarly audience members have welcomed the return of this spectacular musical. “I’ve never seen a cast as talented and as vocally strong as this one,” said MYX VJ and pop artist Tippi Dos Santos, while Sweet Plantado from The Company said “Wicked is still magical.”
Wicked is one of the world’s most celebrated, spectacular and successful stage musicals of all time. The blockbuster show first premiered in Manila in 2014, where it opened to rave reviews and went on to enjoy a highly successful seven-week run, attracting sell-out audiences.
Described as “a magical story of friendship, love and growing up” (OfficialLondonTheatre.com, UK) and “a wicked and wonderful vision of Oz” (London Evening Standard, UK), Wicked is playing its 14th year on Broadway to packed houses, while at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London’s West End, the show celebrated an extraordinary 10 years on stage last September.

Over the past decade, Wicked has garnered many accolades and achieved numerous milestones to become “one of the most popular West End musicals ever” (London Evening Standard, UK). Around the world, Wicked has been seen by over 50 million people in 15 countries, and is the recipient of more than 100 major awards, including 3 Tony® Awards and 6 Drama Desk Awards on Broadway, 2 Olivier Awards and 9 WhatsOnStage Awards in London, 6 Helpmann Awards in Australia and a Grammy® Award.

Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students – a popular blonde girl called Glinda and a misunderstood, green-skinned girl named Elphaba. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked features music and lyrics by multi Grammy® and Academy® Award-winner Stephen Schwartz (Godspell; Disney’s Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and is based on the novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’ by Gregory Maguire and adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman. Musical staging is by Tony® Award-winner Wayne Cilento and the production is directed by two-time Tony® Award-winner Joe Mantello.

Wicked is produced around the world by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. Executive Producer (UK/International Tour) Michael McCabe. The Manila engagement is presented by Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and Concertus Manila.
