WATCH: New Frozen Song ‘Monster’ Performed by Caissie Levy as Elsa
Only hours after Frozen began previews on Broadway, the company has already released a music video of the new song ‘Monster’, performed by Caissie Levy who plays Elsa in the Broadway musical.
In the video below, Frozen songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and EGOT winner Robert Lopez talk about the context of the song. “Monster is Elsa’s song, her big number in Act 2,” says Robert Lopez. “She’s just thrown her sister out of the palace and she’s hearing voices in the distance of men who are coming up to her to confront her. She’s panicked and thinking about all the destruction she’s wrought.”
This is only the first song out of the four songs that will be released over four consecutive Fridays leading up to its official Broadway opening on March 22, 2018.
Caissie Levy stars in the musical with Patti Murin who plays her sister Anna, Jelani Alladin who plays Kristoff, and John riddle who plays Prince Hans. The book is written by the film’s screenwriter and co-director Jennifer Lee. The musical is directed by Michael Grandage.
