WATCH: ‘Awit at Tula’ Showcases Works of Huseng Batute

Awit at Tula: Pagbabalik-Tanaw sa Unang Hari ng Balagtasan, an online celebration of the life and selected works of Huseng Batute, is streaming on the CCP- Office of the President’s Facebook page.

The special offering, which combines live theater and film (animation and visual effects), presents the works of Filipino poet and King of Balagtasan, Jose Corazon de Jesus, more popularly known as Huseng Batute. It premiered last November 23, which marked Batute’s 126th Birth Anniversary.

The show features performances by John Arcilla, Arman Ferrer, David Ezra, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Via Antonio, Lara Maigue, Epy Quizon, Michael V., and ventriloquist Ony Carcamo.

Awit at Tula is produced by CCP President Nick Lizaso and directed by Ricky Davao. The creative team also includes Dennis Marasigan (Writer, Assistant Director, and Lighting Designer), Nour Hooshmand (Executive Producer), Ohm David (Set Designer), Alice Gonzales (Costume Designer), Steven Tansiongco (Editor and Graphics Designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (Sound Designer and Music Scorer), and Ruben Reyes (Music Arranger).
