“Ang bagong bride ng taon, paparating na siya!”

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Arts Management Program presents

Katarina

Directed by Randolph Maribojoc

Synopsis

Katarina is inspired by The Taming of the Shrew. In our version, the play is turned into a tragicomedy, where the concept of love and marriage is explored through the three couples. Each pair is of a different back story, with which they either clash or sympathize with one another, also helping in the emphasis of the elements that a tragicomedy has.
Our play is set on the wedding day of Katarina’s younger sister, Bianca, starting the plot with a light vibe while it gradually deepens as the story unfolds. We will be using the important and memorable sonnets from the original stage play, fused with the popular values and principles of Filipinos.
