‘Tententenen’ Play by Teatro Marco Celebrates Pinoy Meme Culture This October
Teatro Marco is set to stage Tententenen, a new Filipino comedy inspired by Pinoy meme culture and online trends, from October 10 to 25, 2026 at its black box studio in Maginhawa, Quezon City.
Written and directed by Mark Ghosn, with Miguel Vyncent as assistant director, the play follows Miss Bu, CEO of Bubu Beauty Company, the #1 beauty brand on the fictional “TukTok” Shop, as she prepares for her upcoming wedding. When a Reddit chismis about her future husband threatens the event, her team attempts to contain the situation while protecting the company and its brand.
Set in the world of Filipino influencer culture, the play draws from memes, catchphrases, liveselling, fandoms, and blind items commonly encountered online. Its characters include a narcissistic KOL, an underwear liveseller, and a high-waist-loving dancer, among others.
“Sabi nga nila, mahirap i-explain ang humor natin sa iba, isang word o expression lang, gets na natin agad ang isa’t isa,” says Ghosn. “With Tententenen, we wanted to pay homage to the memes and catchphrases that live in our minds rent-free. Years from now, babalikan natin ito at masasabi na komedya na sa’tin ‘to nung 2026.”
The cast is led by Janine Lloce as Miss Bu, with Kcedrick Balagat, Lucky Charles, Jin Mikado, Deane Tria, JP Ortiz, Abby Reynes, Sonson O., Rai dela Cruz, Joni Gee, Hannah Salvan, Rem Delos Reyes, and Yan-yan Gervero.
Tententenen comes from the team behind Ampalaya Monologues and Dami Pang Gustong Sabihin. It is Teatro Marco’s third and final presentation of its inaugural season, following Dami Pang Gustong Sabihin and the Queer Theater Festival (QTF).
The show will run on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25, 2026 at 2 PM and 7 PM at Teatro Marco, 3/F, 65 Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.
Early bird, free-seating tickets are priced at ₱850 and are available through TeatroMarco.com and Ticket2Me.
Teatro Marco is a Filipino fringe theater company based at its black box studio in Maginhawa, Quezon City. Through intimate, limited-seating productions, the company aims to introduce more audiences to Philippine fringe theater with the support of its volunteer-driven community.
