Spot On! A Cabaret—a bi-monthly series created by theater artist Sweet Plantado Tiongson to spotlight local theater talents—returns for its fifth edition this June with Paw Castillo: Ride Home, a one-night-only event happening on June 19, 8 PM at District One Gastrolounge, BGC. Castillo was most recently seen on stage as Cyrano in Mula sa Buwan and as Andres Bonifacio in Pingkian: Isang Musikal.

When asked why she chose Castillo to headline the fifth installment of the series, Plantado Tiongson says: “I’ve always been a fan of his work since I saw him in Ang Huling El Bimbo. Then I got him to shoot my group, The CompanY. I am a fan of Paw as an actor, singer, photographer—and as a simple, deep, funny, family-loving human being. He deserves this Spot On! cabaret solo show and more.”

“Expect to get to know Paw Castillo in a very personal way as he shares with us his 10-year theater journey—his love for his craft, his ups and downs, and his dreams.”

Castillo shares his concept for the show: “As a probinsyano, traveling from Tanauan, Batangas to Metro Manila since I started my career in theater more than 10 years ago—headset, earphones, AirBuds, whatever device I had back then kept me sane while traveling. Now, I want to remove that isolation and share all these songs with my audience.”

He adds: “Where and what is this home? Technically, where I’m going is home—in both directions. My literal home in Tanauan, or my theater home. Which is weird, because basically anywhere the rehearsals and shows are going to take place becomes my home for the duration of that production.”

His repertoire will include songs from the playlist he listened to during his travels between Tanauan, Batangas, and Manila. It will be a good mix of musical theater and pop, ranging from Strangers Like Me (Tarzan the Musical), Mula sa Buwan, to Ben&Ben’s Ride Home.

Special guests for the evening include Jillian Ita-as, Katreen Dela Cruz, and Vic Robinson. The show is directed by Sweet Plantado Tiongson, with musical direction by Farley Asuncion.

Tickets are priced at ₱850, available through Ticket2Me.
