‘Si Faust’ Announces Final Extension
At what was supposed to be the curtain call of Si Faust’s closing show, D Cortezano, resident technical director of Areté, announced that due to popular demand, the production will extend for two additional performances on November 29 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM at the Doreen Black Box Theater, Areté, Ateneo.
Si Faust is a new rock opera adaptation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust, featuring music by the iconic OPM band Wolfgang. Created by Nelsito Gomez and Wolfgang frontman Basti Artadi, the production was originally slated to run for two weekends only, from November 14 to November 23.
Set in a Philippine province ravaged by plague, Si Faust reimagines Goethe’s classic through Wolfgang’s blistering rock anthems. A foreign preacher named Faust, disillusioned and broken, makes a desperate deal with the Devil, Mephistopheles, who grants him youth, power, and pleasure. As Faust’s miracles heal the sick and earn him fame, he’s drawn into a doomed romance with Marga, an innocent provincial girl whose world—and soul—are shattered by his fall from grace.
The cast features Joseton Vergel de Dios as Faust, Maita Ponce as Mephistopheles, Shaira Opsimar as Marga, Joshua Cabiladas as Tiño, and Matel Patayon as Martha. The ensemble includes MC Dela Cruz, Jam Binay, JV Fulgencio, Thor Ganchero, and Iya Villanueva.
The production is directed by Nelsito Gomez, with Kabaitan Bautista serving as musical director, arranger, and sound designer, and Rafael Jimenez as assistant director. They are joined by Jim Ferrer (choreographer), Sarah Facuri (set designer), Carlo Pagunaling (costume designer), Jethro Nibaten (lighting designer), and Joyce Garcia (video and projection designer).
Tickets are priced at P1,499 (Premium) and P999 (Regular). They will be available through arete.helixpay.ph starting tomorrow evening.
