‘Sala Sa Pito’ Play to be Staged this May
Following the relaunch of Boxstage Manila in 2024, the all-FTG (FEU Theater Guild) alumni theater group returns to the stage with a restaging of George de Jesus III’s Sala sa Pito. In partnership with Far Eastern University (FEU), FEU Alumni Relations Office (FEU-ARO), FEU Center for the Arts (FCA), and FEU Theater Guild (FTG), the production is directed by FTG’s Artistic Director and PETA Senior Artist Dudz Teraña.
Recent productions by the company include the 2020 run of Risa Jopson’s adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig and its relaunch production of Allan Lopez’s Anatomiya ng Pag-ibig.
Loosely inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, the play presents a series of interconnected scenes set in a restaurant, a club, a café, a ‘lugawan’, and a bar, each exploring modern love and human connections.
Set in 1990, Sala sa Pito follows eight characters as they navigate emotional and relational complexities. The production explores themes of intimacy, vulnerability, power, and the ever-changing dynamics of relationships.
The production features alternating performances by Kat Galang and Yesh Burce as Misis, Rowi Du and Kobie Hachero as Mister, Divine Aucina and Jamille Vivas as Matrona, Aj Sison and Jasper Estaras as Yuppie, Cloren Flores and Karylle Oliva as GRO, Jel Tarun and Jemuel Satumba as Masseur, JD Reyes as Waiter, and Jesus Singh III as Singer.
The show will run from May 8 to 10 and May 15 to 17, with Thursday performances at 7 PM and Friday and Saturday performances at 3 PM and 7 PM at the FEU Center for the Arts Studio in Manila. Tickets are priced at P500 (VIP), P350 (Regular), and P200 (FEU Student) and are available via Ticket2Me.
