‘Sala Sa Pito’ by Boxstage Manila to be Restaged this November
Following its debut run last May, Boxstage Manila restages George de Jesus III’s Palanca Award-winning play Sala sa Pito this November. The production is presented in partnership with Far Eastern University (FEU), the FEU Center for the Arts (FCA), and the FEU Theater Guild (FTG), under the direction of Boxstage Manila founder, PETA senior artist, and FTG artistic director Dudz Teraña.
Loosely inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, Sala sa Pito follows a chain of encounters among eight characters, unfolding in everyday places—a café, a club, a lugawan, a bar, and more. Set against the soundscape of the 1990s, the play unpacks shifting ideas of intimacy, desire, and power, revealing the vulnerability that underlies human connection.
The cast includes Yesh Burce (Misis); Rowi Du and Kobie Hachero (Mister); Jasper Estaras and AJ Sison (Yuppie); Karyl Oliva and Tin Calawod (GRO); Jel Tarun and Sean Asuncion (Masseur); Kloren Flores (Matrona); Jonas Cunanan and Renz Dotillos (Waiter); and Brigitta Claire and Jesus Singh III (Singer).
Joining de Jesus III and Teraña on the creative team are Jojo Malasig (assistant director), Kirstan Orbegoso (production design head), and Arvin Javier and Martin Falqueza (lighting design).
The production will be staged at the FEU Center for the Arts Studio, a black box theater that places the audience close to the performers, creating an immediate and unfiltered experience.
Performances are scheduled for November 14 and 15 at 3 PM and 7 PM; November 22 and 29 at 3 PM and 7 PM; and December 5 and 6 at 3 PM and 7 PM. All shows will be held at the FEU Center for the Arts Studio in Manila. Tickets are available through Ticket2Me.
Composed of FTG alumni, Boxstage Manila first staged Risa Jopson’s adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig in 2020. The company relaunched in 2024 with Allan Lopez’s Anatomiya ng Pag-ibig.
