Repertory Philippines’ New Home Theater Set to Open in Eastwood City
With the closing of the Onstage Theater at Greenbelt 1 in January 2024, Repertory Philippines (REP) has been on the lookout for a new home theater. Yesterday, March 12, 2024, a partnership between Repertory Philippines and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls was officially finalized.
Formalized through an official contract signing between Kevin Tan, CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc., the parent company of Megaworld; Graham Coates, the first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls; and Mindy Perez-Rubio, president of Repertory Philippines, a brand new theater at the fourth floor of Eastwood Citywalk will be REP’s new home theater starting October 2024.
Two cinemas will be converted to become the theater, spanning 1,400 square meters, with a seating capacity of 500. It features a contemporary classic design and an expansive mezzanine and common area.
The new performing space is set to open in time for REP’s Theater for Young Audiences (RTYA) production for the year, Jepoy and the Magic Circle.
“We are very honored to give Repertory Philippines its new home in Eastwood City through this landmark partnership. More than signifying our commitment to offering diverse cultural experiences to our valued patrons and communities, this new theater symbolizes our shared vision of creating a vibrant cultural hub that puts the spotlight on the world-class talents of Filipinos, fosters creativity and inspires the next generation of playwrights and theater performers,” shared Coates.
The collaboration aims to foster a thriving arts community, attracting artists and theater enthusiasts from across the metro. Ticket prices and show schedules will be announced soon through Repertory Philippines’ social media accounts and website.
