What do Idina Menzel, Sara Bareilles, Josh Groban, Alec Baldwin, Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, David Hyde Pierce, Stomp, Chris Colfer and Carol Burnett all have in common?
They’re all part of Netflix’s most adorable new children’s series, Julie’s Greenroom.
Brought to us by the Jim Jenson Company, child puppets called ‘Greenies’ create their own musical under the mentorship of Julie Andrews. In the span of 13 episodes, the show focuses solely on the performing arts, tackling all the things required to develop a new musical– writing scripts, composing music, writing songs, singing, acting, doing improv, dancing, and creating costumes.
Guest artists Idina Menzel, Sara Bareilles, Josh Groban, Alec Baldwin, Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, David Hyde Pierce, Chris Colfer, and Stomp, teach the puppets the different topics depending on their expertise.
Oh to be taught by such geniuses. We’ve never been more jealous of puppets in our lives.
When asked about how they came up with the show, Julie Andrews says, “I’ve long wanted to do a program on the arts, to convey the joy of the arts to children and to families, and to just specialize in that.”
