‘Next to Normal’ Coming to the Stage in February 2025
The Sandbox Collective, whose current production of Tiny Beautiful Things starring Iza Calzado is running at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater, has just announced its season opener for 2025!
The Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal will be coming to the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater on February 2025. With music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, the rock musical tells the story of a family coping after a momentous event rattles the foundations of each member’s relationship with their loved ones.
The production will be directed by Sandbox’s managing artistic director Toff de Venecia, with musical direction by Ejay Yatco. The cast will be announced at a later date.
Making its Broadway debut in 2009, Next to Normal has been credited with launching the discussion of mental health in mainstream theater, winning three Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. It has previously been staged in Manila—by Atlantis Productions in 2011 and by Ateneo blueREP in 2020.
Next to Normal is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). New York, NY, USA. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
