All good things must come to an end.

Lin Manuel Miranda played Alexander Hamilton one last time on July 9th. His final curtain call for the Tony award-winning musical he both wrote and starred in was a truly emotional one.

That night also marked Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo’s final performance as Aaron Burr and Eliza Schuyler respectively.

In a Live video feed uploaded in Hamilton: An American Musical’s Facebook page, the leads bowed quite reverently, to the crowd’s deafening cheers.

Three days before his final show, Lin Manuel Miranda did his final #Ham4Ham.

“You know, this whole thing was an accident, Manuel Miranda explained of Ham4Ham. “This Ham4Ham, when we had our first lottery, seven hundred people showed up. And we didn’t know what to do with all of that, so I just got up and said a few words…and it turned into this.”

Truly, a lot has happened between the first time, and now his last #Ham4Ham. So it was fitting that he read Hamilton’s love letter for Eliza; as Manuel Miranda described it, “it kinda captures everything I love about Hamilton: he’s kind of arrogant; he’s kind of insecure; he’s unbelievably romantic; it’s funny, it’s sad, and it’s basically him saying to Eliza, ‘don’t marry me if you think you can’t be happy broke… ‘Coz we might end up broke.'”

He wrapped up his performance by bringing into the stage both Odom Jr and Soo. He led the crowd in singing “Happy Trails” to him and the cast members who will be leaving the show.

Lin Manuel Miranda will be succeeded by his alternate, Javier Muñoz, in playing Alexander Hamilton. Meanwhile, Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon who is most popularly known for his portrayal of Harpo in The Color Purple, will be playing Aaron Burr. Taking on the role of Eliza Schuyler is Lexi Lawson, who will also be making her Broadway debut. She has previously played the role of Mimi in the national tour of Rent.
