Lin-Manuel Miranda Joins Alan Menken for Live-Action Adaptation of The Little Mermaid
As if Lin-Manuel Miranda hasn’t been Part of Your World for a long time, his new project with Disney will surely make you want to go Under the Sea.
Pulitzer, Grammy and Tony-Award winner for Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda will be joining Alan Menken on writing the music for the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
This will be Miranda’s third project with Disney, with Mary Poppins sequel and Moana being the first two.
Aside from working on the music with Menken, Miranda will also be co-producing and supervising the story of The Little Mermaid adaptation.
According to nerdist.com, Miranda stated in an interview with Rolling Stone that, “I’m here because The Little Mermaid fucked my shit up when I was nine, and I have never been the same since. Now I’m working with the original directors of The Little Mermaid on this animated musical, writing songs and chasing stories.”
The live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid will feature some of the original 1989 songs.
And if that isn’t exciting, I will walk out, strolling along down what’s that word again…?
