Full House Theater Company (FHTC) has announced that it will stage & Juliet in 2027.

The musical premiered in London’s West End in 2019, where it received nine Olivier Award nominations and won three, including Best Actress in a Musical. It opened on Broadway in 2022, earning nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.

& Juliet offers a fresh take on Shakespeare’s classic story through some of pop music’s biggest hits.

Featuring the music of Swedish songwriter and producer Max Martin—including songs made famous by Britney Spears, Katy Perry, the Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson, and others, such as “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “…Baby One More Time,” “Larger Than Life,” “That’s the Way It Is,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”—with a book by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), the musical flips the script on Shakespeare’s tragedy. It asks: “What would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo?”

The announcement is consistent with what FHTC Co-Artistic Director Michael Williams shared during the press conference for Shrek the Musical, where he said the company plans to stage original Filipino works and international productions simultaneously, with four new theaters currently being built by Newport World Resorts.

Williams said, “It’s part of the vision of Kevin Tan and our administration to create original Filipino productions and also to do international productions. Don’t forget, we’re opening up four theaters. So hindi lang two talaga. It will eventually become more. And though we are planning to do original Filipino and international productions, we want to be agile and be able to provide our audiences with whatever is current, whatever is interesting.”

The company describes & Juliet as the “first-ever homegrown Asian production.”

The cast, creative team, performance dates, venue, ticketing details, and additional information will be announced at a later date.
