Filipino homegrown theater artist Jon Jon Briones, who was last seen on Broadway and in the West End as The Engineer in the Miss Saigon revival, returns to the Broadway stage to play Hermes in Hadestown. His daughter Isa Briones, who will be making her Broadway debut, also joins the company to play Eurydice.

Both of them are set to join the company on March 19, replacing Lillias White and Lola Tung respectively. The show currently stars Jordan Fisher as Orpheus, Tung as Eurydice, Ani DiFranco as Persephone, Phillip Boykin as Hades, and White as Hermes.

The announcement was made last night by the show’s official Facebook page, saying, “You never know who you’ll meet on the road to Hell… Father-daughter duo Jon Jon and Isa Briones are joining the Broadway company of Hadestown as Hermes and Eurydice on March 19th.”

Written by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell (music, lyrics, and book), the sung-through musical intertwines two mythic tales– that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and Queen Persephone — as it invites audiences on a journey to the underworld and back.

Hadestown opened on Broadway in 2019 and won 8 out of its 14 Tony nominations including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for André De Shields, who also played Hermes.
