‘Hanggang Sa Muli’ Jukebox Musical Featuring The CompanY’s Hits to Be Staged in Davao This August
Davao-based theater group Mindanao Repertory Community (MRC) is set to stage Hanggang Sa Muli, a jukebox musical featuring the songs of Filipino vocal group The CompanY. Proceeds from the production will go to the Davao Amuma Cancer Support Group, a local organization dedicated to providing care and assistance to cancer patients and their families.
Set during the final years of the 1980s, the story follows six inseparable high school friends—Mara, Gaspar, Julia, Johnny, Mayumi, and Warren—whose lives unfold against the backdrop of a nation undergoing profound social and political change. As they experience the innocence of youth, first love, and the promise of boundless dreams, they make a heartfelt vow to remain connected, believing that neither time nor distance can ever diminish the bond they share.
Four decades later, in the aftermath of a global pandemic that has reshaped lives and relationships, fate brings the friends together once more. Their long-awaited reunion rekindles treasured memories while uncovering unresolved conflicts, hidden truths, and the quiet sacrifices that have defined each of their journeys. Through moments of joy, heartbreak, reconciliation, and grace, they come to realize that life’s greatest gift is not a perfect ending, but the opportunity to rediscover the people who once shaped who they are.
The cast portrays the characters across two timelines: Florence Asistido as Mara Viola, Gabriel Evan Lumapas as Gaspar Tolentino, Julie Agdalipe as Mayumi Inocentes, Serg Jeff Lumanas as Warren Reyes, Shelby Codilla as Julie Ann Diaz, and Rashyd Alphonso Espartero as Johnny Bautista; and Angela Sucaldito as Aling Mara Viola, Dwyieth Antipolo as Sir Gaspar Tolentino, Francesca Varquez as Nurse Mayumi Inocentes-Reyes, Jasper Collado as Kapitan Wary Reyes, Sky Bajada as Sir Jules Diaz, and Stephane Dheb Pangandaman as Chef Johnny Bautista.
The show is written and directed by Jairus Rosello, who also serves as an acting coach, with Jasper Collado, Gabrielle Jade Rivas, and Nesmei Lindo serving as choreographers; Florence Asistido and Dwyieth Antipolo as acting coaches; and Bong Aviola, Fonzi Marquez, Sweet Plantado-Tiongson, Moy Ortiz, and Cecile Hidalgo as consultants.
Running on August 22–23, August 29–30, September 5–6, and September 12–13, 2026, the company says the production marks the longest-running musical production in Davao City, made possible through the support of Gaisano Malls’ GMall of Davao, the production’s event partner. The musical will be staged at the Leo Dominguez Amphitheater, Ateneo de Davao University–Matina Campus in Davao City, with all performances beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Mindanao Repertory Community (MRC) is a Davao-based theater company that develops aspiring performers through stage productions, concerts, corporate shows, and community performances.
