‘Gruesome Playground Injuries’ Starring Topper Fabregas, Missy Maramara Coming this November
Fresh off its sold-out staging of Othello, CAST PH returns this November with Gruesome Playground Injuries.
Written by Rajiv Joseph, the play was first staged Off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theater for a limited run in 2011. Since then, it has been produced and staged across the United States and around the world.
Gruesome Playground Injuries follows Doug and Kayleen, who, over the course of 30 years, intersect at life’s most bizarre intervals, leading the childhood friends to compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together. It tackles themes and/or images of violence, self-harm, suicide, sexual assault, abuse, injuries, and blood.
Helmed by CAST PH’s Artistic Director Nelsito Gomez, the two-hander features Topper Fabregas as Doug and Missy Maramara as Kayleen. Joining the team are Loy Arcenas (Set Design), Paul Adrian Martinez (Costume Design), Miyo Sta. Maria (Lighting Design), Carlos Siongco (Special Effects Makeup Design), Zoë de Ocampo (Graphic Design), and Juri Ito (Intimacy Coordination).
To further amplify the story’s message, the production will donate a portion of the ticket sales to Tahanan Sta. Luisa (TSL), a crisis intervention center for girls who have lived and suffered on the streets of Manila. TSL helps these girls recover from the trauma of abuse and exploitation through education, empowerment, and livelihood opportunities.
The show will run from November 22 to 24, and November 29 to December 1 at 8 PM, with an additional 3 PM show on December 1, at The Mirror Studios. Early bird tickets are on sale for P1000 until October 31, 2024, while the regular ticket price is at P1200 starting November 1, 2024. For tickets, visit the company’s Google Form.
