
‘Gregoria Lakambini’ Drops 7 Songs Online
Gregoria Lakambini: A Pinay Pop Musical has released a total of seven songs, now available on Spotify.
The first batch of songs dropped on November 7, led by the title track “Gregoria Lakambini,” performed by Marynor Madamesila alongside original cast members Anya Evangelista, Heart Puyong, Sofia Sacaguing, Sarah Monay, Ynna Rafa, and Murline Uddin. Also included in the initial release were “Buwan, Buwan,” performed by Madamesila and Evangelista, and “Saya’t Alampay,” performed by Madamesila with the original cast.
Two additional tracks followed on December 12. These were “Bagong Pag-ibig,” performed by Madamesila and Sacaguing, and “Paalam, Andres,” a solo ballad performed by Madamesila.
The final two songs, “Bon Appétit, Heneral” and “Kakambal na Tala,” both performed by the original cast, were released at midnight today, completing the seven-song rollout.
The music of Gregoria Lakambini blends ballads, pop, and R&B, with compositions by Nica del Rosario and Matthew Chang. Lyrics are by Del Rosario, Chang, playwright Nicanor Tiongson, and Eljay Castro Deldoc. The cast album is produced by FlipMusic Productions in collaboration with Del Rosario and Chang.
Told through the sound and energy of a P-pop girl group, Gregoria Lakambini: A Pinay Pop Musical traces the journey of Gregoria de Jesus, from a spirited young woman in Caloocan to the Lakambini of the Katipunan, standing alongside Andres Bonifacio in both love and revolution. Framed through contemporary pop music, the musical places Oryang’s voice at the center of the narrative.
Gregoria Lakambini: A Pinay Pop Musical ran from November 14 to December 14 at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez as part of Tanghalang Pilipino’s 39th season. It features a book and lyrics by Nicanor Tiongson and Eljay Castro Deldoc, with music and additional lyrics by Nica del Rosario and Matthew Chang, and arrangements by FlipMusic. The show is directed and choreographed by Delphine Buencamino, with Jan Matthew Almodovar serving as co-choreographer, Mark Lorenz as set designer, Marco Viaña as costume designer, Earvin Estioco as lighting designer, JM Jimenez as projection designer, Sabrina Basilio as dramaturg, and D Cortezano as technical director.
