As previously reported, Floy Quintos’ Grace, produced by Encore Theater, returns to the stage for a limited run from September 6 to 15, this time at the Doreen Black Box Theater, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University. The show previously ran earlier this year from May 25 to June 23 at the PMCS Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati.

The play presents a fictionalized narrative based on the alleged apparitions of Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace, at Lipa Carmel in 1948, as well as the miracles and controversies that have surrounded these events to this day.

The entire cast from the earlier run returns to reprise their roles: Stella Cañete-Mendoza as Teresita Castillo, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino as Mother Cecilia of Jesus, Frances Makil-Ignacio as Sister Agatha, Missy Maramara as Sister Lucia, Matel Patayon as Sister/Nurse, Leo Rialp as Monsignor Egidio Vagnozzi, Dennis Marasigan as Monsignor Rufino Santos, Nelsito Gomez as Father Angel de Blas, Jojo Cayabyab as Monsignor Alfredo, and Raphne Catorce as Guillermo.

Dexter M. Santos, Quintos’ long-time collaborator, directs the play together with the artistic team: Mitoy Sta. Ana (Production Designer), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Steven Tansiongco (Graphic and Video Designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (Music and Sound Designer), Mikko Angeles (Assistant Director), Marvin Olaes (Dramaturg), Davidson Oliveros (Dramaturg), and Meliton Roxas, Jr. (Technical Director).

For the past 11 years, Quintos and Santos have collaborated on six other productions: Collection, Ang Nawalang Kapatid, Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini, Angry Christ, The Kundiman Party, and The Reconciliation Dinner. Grace is the playwright’s swan song, completed shortly before his untimely passing on April 27 of this year.

Grace runs for two weekends only: Fridays (7 PM), Saturdays and Sundays (2 PM and 7 PM), from September 6 to 15, at the Doreen Black Box Theater, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City. Tickets are available at Ticket2Me.
