Open auditions for a total ensemble of 30 and the adult main cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are set on February 16 and 17, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The auditions include casting try-outs for the main roles of Caractacus Potts, Truly Scrumptious, Grandpa Potts, Baron Bomburst, Baroness Bomburst, Boris and Goran, among others.

On February 18 and 19, open auditions for the roles of the children, Jeremy and Jemima Potts, will also be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Auditions for both the adult and children cast will be held at the 3rd floor of RWM’s Newport Performing Arts Theater, with registration at 1:00 p.m.

“Our production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is off to an early start because shortlisting the sheer volume of incredibly talented hopefuls down to a select few is a challenging task that takes time,” said Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo who serves as co-artistic director for RWM’s production outfit Full House Theater Company. “This is part and parcel of RWM’s commitment to nurture Philippine performing arts and with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as our 8th theater production, we continue in our quest to produce classic family-oriented musicals that remain timeless and well loved”.

RWM is calling out to male and female hopefuls aged 19-50 for the adult cast, with strong singing voices, proficiency in English, and have strong backgrounds in dance. For the children cast, hopefuls aged 8-16 years old (but appear to be younger than 15), with strong singing voices and proficiency in English are called to join the try-outs. Aspirants are requested to prepare any show tune in English and provide a piano score or a minus one track of his/her chosen piece.

Bringing the British musical to the country for the first time, RWM aims to treat audiences to a grand production filled with catchy show tunes, a magical display of eccentric inventions, and a flying race car that promises to take audiences on a daring joyride.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tells the tale of a struggling inventor named Caractacus who, together with his children Jeremy and Jemima, and his love interest Truly, sets out on an adventure aboard a restored flying race car to the faraway land of Vulgaria to face its spiteful ruler Baron Bomburst.

“Audiences who have seen RWM’s past theater productions know how we take classic family musicals and reinvent them to suit the tastes of Filipino audiences,” shared Yulo. “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a modern classic that never feels dated because it presents so many different elements for every generation,” she added.
