‘Frozen: The Broadway Musical’ to be Staged in Manila in April 2027

9 Works Theatrical has just announced that it is set to stage Frozen: The Broadway Musical in April 2027 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati.

Further details about the Philippine premiere, including the cast, creative team, exact performance dates, and ticketing information, have yet to be announced.

Based on Disney’s 2013 animated film, Frozen follows sisters Anna and Elsa, whose relationship is tested when Elsa’s hidden powers inadvertently plunge the kingdom of Arendelle into an eternal winter. The stage musical features music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and a book by Jennifer Lee, who also wrote and co-directed the original film.

The musical includes songs from the film such as “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” “For the First Time in Forever,” and “Love Is an Open Door,” along with new songs written for the stage, including “Monster,” “Dangerous to Dream,” and “What Do You Know About Love?”

Frozen opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre in March 2018, with Caissie Levy as Elsa, Patti Murin as Anna, Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, and John Riddle as Hans. Originally directed by Michael Grandage with choreography by Rob Ashford, the production ran for 825 performances, playing its final performance on March 11, 2020, a day before Broadway shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney later announced that the production would not reopen.

The production received three Tony Award nominations in 2018: Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical for Lee, and Best Original Score for Anderson-Lopez and Lopez.

The musical made its Southeast Asian premiere in Singapore in 2023, where it ran from February 5 to March 19 at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands. Presented by Base Entertainment Asia, the Singapore engagement was the production’s only Southeast Asian stop at the time.

Frozen has also been staged internationally, including productions in London’s West End, Australia, Japan, and Germany. A filmed version of the West End production, titled Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical, was released on Disney+ in 2025.
