‘Chicago’ Returns to Manila in March 2027

Chicago is returning to Manila for a limited run from March 9 to 28, 2027 at The Theatre at Solaire.

Presented by GMG Productions in association with Barry & Fran Weissler and David Ian, the production comes to Manila as part of the musical’s 30th anniversary global tour.

More than a decade after its 2014 Manila run, Chicago returns to The Theatre at Solaire, where it served as the venue’s inaugural production.

The international touring cast features Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly, Dan Burton as Billy Flynn, Jenny Fitzpatrick as Mama Morton, Neil Ditt as Amos Hart, and Nathan Kiley as Mary Sunshine.

The ensemble includes Amelia Colfar, Jessica Keable, Victoria Anderson, Alexandra Girard, Jenna Robinson-Child, Sophie Fleet, Yoan Grosjean, Joe Dale, Clément Bernard-Cabrel, Kerry Spark, Jonathan Milton, Luke Jarvis, and Jacob Fearey. Yoan Grosjean also serves as Assistant Dance Captain, while Michelle Attardo serves as Dance Captain and swing. Ben Reynolds is also a swing.

Set in 1920s Chicago, the musical follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who finds herself on trial for murder. With the help of lawyer Billy Flynn, she attempts to turn her crime into a media spectacle, only to find herself competing for the spotlight with fellow inmate and nightclub performer Velma Kelly.

The musical features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb, with songs including “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” “Razzle Dazzle,” and “Nowadays.”

The current Broadway revival of Chicago opened in 1996 and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It has played more than 11,700 performances and has been seen by more than 35 million people across 38 countries and over 525 cities.

“There’s something especially meaningful about bringing Chicago back to The Theatre at Solaire, where it inaugurated the venue in 2014,” says GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal. “More than twelve years later, returning to the same stage feels like a real homecoming.

“What I love most about Chicago is its edge. It’s glamorous and seductive, but also dark, witty, and dangerous. From ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Cell Block Tango’ to ‘Razzle Dazzle,’ it’s filled with songs and moments that have become part of musical theatre history.”

“We’re thrilled to bring it back to Manila in March 2027. Whether you saw it in 2014 or are discovering it for the first time, Chicago is a show that truly comes alive on stage. Come on, baby — let’s razzle dazzle.”

Producer Barry Weissler adds, “It was such an honor to be chosen as the inaugural production at the grand opening of the Theatre at Solaire back in 2014, so for Chicago to return to Manila next year and take that same stage again is a real homecoming.

“John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse created a prescient masterpiece that is ever relevant in this moment and time. Audiences are in for a real treat. The show is as hot as ever!”

David Ian, co-producer of the production and CEO of Crossroads Live, says, “We’re delighted to announce the return of Chicago to the Theatre at Solaire in March 2027 as part of its red hot 30th Anniversary global tour. Chicago truly is the triple threat musical that combines the sensational choreography of Bob Fosse, with the master melodies of John Kander and satirical lyrics of Fred Ebb. Our incredible company can’t wait to perform Chicago in Manila, home of such an enthusiastic musical theatre audience. Get ready to paint the town!”

The original production was directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, with a creative team that includes John Lee Beatty, William Ivey Long, Ken Billington, and Rick Clarke.

A six-time Tony Award winner, including Best Revival of a Musical, Chicago has also received two Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award.

Tickets will be available through TicketWorld. A UnionBank presale will run from October 12 to 15, with cardholders receiving a 10% discount. A GMG Productions waitlist presale, also offering a 10% discount, will follow on October 16. General public ticket sales begin on October 19.

Chicago runs from March 9 to 28, 2027 at The Theatre at Solaire. Children below four years old will not be admitted. The production contains mature language and themes, including violence, murder, sexual content, and smoking onstage.
