CAST PH Staged Readings Returns in January 2025
Kicking off 2025, CAST brings back its annual staged reading festival for its fifth season entitled, Theoria Omnium (Theory of everything) – a Season of Scientific Drama. Artistic Director of CAST, Nelsito Gomez, says, “Science (and its many facets) has always been a theme we’ve been wanting to explore since the inception of CAST. Science and theatre have always gone hand in hand in asking the big, difficult questions. Is there a god? What is the meaning of our existence? Are you willing to face the truth even if it will cause you pain? Join us as we try to find the answers together.”
The four science-themed plays deal with topics such as faith, love, ethics, and morality.
As is custom with the CAST staged readings, the titles of the plays will not be revealed to encourage audiences to experience all four plays as a thematic whole.
Gomez also adds, “This is an exciting year for the readings as we’re partnering up with WHYNoT, a new art space/culture hub in Makati. Their ethos of a multidisciplinary approach, highlighting intersectional discussions align with the values of CAST, and we’re hoping to collaborate with them more in the future.”
“And we’ve got quite the line up of artists joining us. From acting greats such as Roselyn Perez and Dolly De Leon, blazing newcomer to theater Sue Ramirez, to phenomenal talents such as Jenny Jamora, Ron Capinding, Nor Domingo, Cathy Azanza-Dy, and Naths Everett to name a few. We just know it’s going to be electric.”
The plays will take place over the course of four weeks (every Sunday), starting on January 12 with Play #1 directed by Jaime Del Mundo. The cast features Jaime Del Mundo and Nelsito Gomez.
On January 19, Play #2 will be directed by Sarah Facuri. The cast features Sue Ramirez, Brian Sy, Dean Daniel Rosen, and Cathy Azanza-Dy.
On January 26, Play #3 will be directed by Nelsito Gomez. The cast features Jenny Jemora, Ron Capinding, Nor Domingo, Zoë De Ocampo, Jam Binay, and Katski Flores.
Finally on February 2, Play #4 will be directed by Topper Fabregas. The cast features Dolly De Leon, Roselyn Perez, and Naths Everett.
Limited 80 seats per performance at Php 500 a ticket. For inquiries and reservations, go to the company’s Google Form. All performances will be held in WHYNoT Culture Hub. 4th Karrivin Studios, 2316 Chino Roces Ave, Makati, 1231 Metro Manila. Performance times at 3pm and 8pm.
