‘Bar Boys: A New Musical’ Set to Return This October
After staging a reimagined and more defiant version of Mula Sa Buwan, Barefoot Theatre Collaborative closes its 2024 season with the rerun of its original Filipino musical, Bar Boys: A New Musical — adapted from the film by Kip F. Oebanda.
During the curtain call of Mula sa Buwan at today’s matinee, the rerun of Bar Boys was announced by Benedix Ramos (Erik), Alex Diaz (Chris), Jerom Canlas (Torran), Omar Uddin (Josh), and Sheila Francisco (Justice Hernandez). The five cast members are set to reprise their roles while further casting has yet to be announced.
A musical stage adaptation of the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino film by Kip F. Oebanda, Bar Boys: A New Musical follows the life of four friends and their journey to become defenders of justice in the Philippines.
Book and lyrics are by Pat Valera, who will return to direct alongside Mikko Angeles. Myke Salomon, who composed the adaptation’s original songs, also serves as the musical director. Jomelle Era will also return for movement direction.
The musical will run from October 4 to November 3, 2024, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati. It debuted from May 3 to 19 at the same venue earlier this year.
Opening weekend tickets are now available via Ticket2Me.
