‘Ang Panaginip’ Full-length Filipiniana Ballet Opens this February
Ballet Philippines is set to stage the original full-length Filipiniana ballet Ang Panaginip from February 28 to March 2 at The Theatre at Solaire. The show also serves as the company’s season finale.
Directed by Ballet Philippines’ Artistic Director Mikhail Martynyuk, with costumes by Filipiniana designer Jor-el Espina and a score by Glenn Aquias, this production brings together artistry and culture in a celebration of individuality and imagination.
Set in a fantastical realm, Ang Panaginip tells the story of 17 princesses who dare to break free from the routines of palace life in search of adventure and self-expression. Guided by their dreams, they discover a mysterious portal that leads to an enchanted world where they can explore who they truly want to be—whether as a violinist, ballet teacher, doctor, or astrologer.
While firmly rooted in fantasy, the production pays homage to Filipino culture through Espina’s designs, which blend traditional Filipiniana elements with the designer’s signature interpretations. Each princess reflects not only a distinct personality but also the collective spirit of a nation rich in diversity, creativity, and beauty.
“Ang Panaginip is an ode to the freedom of self-expression and the courage to follow your own path,” shares Kathleen Liechtenstein, President of Ballet Philippines. “It’s a story that inspires us to imagine a world where dreams have no limits and individuality takes center stage.”
The production will run for five performances: February 28 at 8 PM, and March 1 and 2 at 2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are available on Ballet.ph or via Ticketworld.
