“Bombshell” Promised to be Staged Next
Good news to all fans of the NBC series “Smash.” Playbill reported that the Producers of “The Wiz Live!” will stage an adaptation born from the NBC TV series. It is the next project in the pipeline, once “The Wiz” is up and running.
Previously staged as a Broadway concert, “Bombshell” became a resounding success, albeit with its one-night-only showing. Since then, Universal Stage Productions announced that it is in development as a full-length stage musical.
Neil Meron, one of the producers of “Smash” said that “We’re currently putting together the creative team.” Although the timeline for its theatrical premiere has not been announced yet, it was reported that Steven Spielberg, who was an executive producer of “Smash,” will also be involved in its musical developments.
“Bombshell,” the musical within the TV musical “Smash,” features the work of Tony Award-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman.
