‘The Play That Goes Wrong,’ ‘Heathers’ to Hold Filipino Sign Language-Interpreted Performances in Manila

GMG Productions has announced Filipino Sign Language (FSL)-interpreted performances for The Play That Goes Wrong on November 13, 2026 and Heathers the Musical on February 2, 2027 at The Theatre at Solaire.

The performances will feature live FSL interpretation by Filipino Sign Language interpreters and Deaf consultants from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Center for Education Advancement of the Deaf (CEAD) and School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies – Interpreting Education Program (SDEAS-IEP).

The initiative is part of GMG Productions’ efforts to expand access to international theater productions in the Philippines through partnerships with members of the Deaf community and sign language professionals.

“Live theater should be experienced by everyone. It is a shared experience, a chance to laugh together, feel something together, and be transported by the power of a story and the people bringing it to life. Accessibility is an important part of making that possible,” said GMG Productions Founder and CEO Carlos Candal.

“We are very happy to offer FSL-interpreted performances of The Play That Goes Wrong and Heathers the Musical, and to welcome more members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community into the theater.”

Candal also thanked the Deaf consultants and FSL interpreters involved in the performances, saying their “expertise and collaboration are helping us create a more inclusive experience for everyone.”

A dedicated orchestra seating section will be available for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing audiences and their companions, providing sightlines to both the stage and the interpreters. Tickets for the section may be purchased using the promo code ACCESSSEATS for a 20% discount. Patrons with a valid PWD ID may also avail of the standard PWD discount at physical TicketWorld outlets.

Presented by GMG Productions in association with Mischief Worldwide Ltd., The Play That Goes Wrong follows an amateur theater company attempting to stage a murder mystery as a series of mishaps derail the performance. Collapsing sets, disappearing props, forgotten lines, and other disasters become part of the production’s physical comedy.

The Olivier Award-winning comedy runs from November 6 to 22, 2026 at The Theatre at Solaire. Its FSL-interpreted performance will be held on November 13.

GMG Productions, in association with Bill Kenwright Ltd. and Paul Taylor-Mills, brings Heathers the Musical to Manila for its Philippine premiere from January 21 to February 7, 2027 at The Theatre at Solaire.

Based on the 1989 film, the dark comedy follows Veronica Sawyer as she navigates the social hierarchy of Westerberg High and becomes involved with new student Jason “J.D.” Dean. The musical features a score that includes “Seventeen,” “Candy Store,” “Meant to Be Yours,” “I Say No,” and “Dead Girl Walking.”

Its FSL-interpreted performance will be held on February 2, 2027.
