Based on the 1989 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, Heathers the Musical is set at Westerberg High, where Veronica Sawyer becomes part of the school’s most powerful clique, led by three girls all named Heather. When she becomes involved with rebellious newcomer Jason “J.D.” Dean, her attempt to navigate popularity, romance, and high school politics takes an unexpectedly deadly turn.

The musical’s music, lyrics, and book are by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, with the score featuring songs such as “Candy Store,” “Dead Girl Walking,” “Seventeen,” “Meant to Be Yours,” and “I Say No.”

The cast features Gerardine Sacdalan as Veronica Sawyer, Louis Hearsey as Jason “J.D.” Dean, Liberty Stottor as Heather Chandler, Jessica Ibadin as Heather Duke, and Lou Henry as Heather McNamara.

The production recently played a 52-performance West End season at The Arts at Marble Arch from July 9 to August 22, 2026. The same production is currently touring the UK and Ireland before coming to Manila in January.

Andy Fickman directs, with choreography by Gary Lloyd, design by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Dan Samson, and musical supervision by Jeremy Wootton and Will Joy.

The production is presented in Manila by GMG Productions in association with Bill Kenwright Ltd. and Paul Taylor-Mills.

Heathers the Musical is recommended for audiences ages 14 and above. The production contains haze, loud noises including gunshots, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and mature themes including murder, suicide, sexual violence, and references to eating disorders.
