‘All of Eabab’ Twin Bill to be Staged in Sorsogon This May
Tabsing Kolektib PH, an independent theater group based in Bulan, Sorsogon, returns this May with All of Eabab, a twin bill featuring Carlo Vergara’s Mula sa Kulimliman and Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady. Both one-act plays were first staged at the Virgin Labfest—Leading Lady in 2013 and Kulimliman in 2016.
For this staging, the works are translated into Waray-Sorsogon by Sorsoganon playwrights Jan Jan Mohametano and Tatin Pelenia.
Drawing from the conventions of superhero narratives, the plays center on women navigating personal and societal pressures. They foreground the agency of ordinary women asserting their voices against everyday injustices, reimagining heroism as something intimate, political, and deeply human.
Mula sa Kulimliman follows a housewife estranged from her parents who is confronted with unsettling truths about her husband, forcing her to reassess what she once dismissed as fantasy. Meanwhile, Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady traces the lives of two sisters whose ambitions, shared past, and entangled relationships unfold against the backdrop of a conflict between superheroes and supervillains.
The cast includes Zyrill Arisga, Ivon Abarnas, Heide Geralde, Jannie Obispo, Frances Bañaga, April Gicaro, Drew Espenocilla, Francis Gepulle, Noel Oro, James Carl Bernas, and Jhon Paul Furaque.
The production is directed by Eljay Castro Deldoc, with Abarnas serving as assistant director. The creative team also includes Liana Golimlim (lighting designer), Aia Glina (music and sound designer), Maan Porcalla and Chase Gicaro (costume and make-up designers), and Aljo Alunan (set designer), alongside translators Pelenia and Mohametano.
All of Eabab runs from May 15 to 17 at Guyala Hall, Zone 5, Bulan, Sorsogon, with performances scheduled at 1 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM. Tickets are priced at P250 (VVIP), P180 (VIP), P120 (Regular), and P90 (General Admission). The production is also accepting ticket sponsorships for Sorsoganon students.
