Papet Pasyon 2026 Returns on Palm Sunday
Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas brings back National Artist for Theater Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio’s Papet Pasyon this Palm Sunday, March 29, at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM at the company’s home theater, the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Teatro Papet Museo, 64 Mapagkawanggawa St., Teacher’s Village, Quezon City. The performances are free to the public.
The group has been staging the show for over four decades, with a commitment to share the story of Christ in observance of the Lenten season.
Rich with puppetry elements, the production presents the Biblical story through the lens of a Batang Lalaki (Boy), who narrates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
This year’s staging is scheduled on Palm Sunday to introduce young audiences to the highlights of each day of Holy Week. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their palaspas on March 29. In previous performances, audiences have waved their palms blessed at Mass during the entry to Jerusalem scene.
Papet Pasyon 2026 weaves together the traditions of Teatrong Mulat and the creative innovations developed through the years. Under the direction of Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete, the puppet play has seen a series of iterations that cater to the evolving audienceship in the metro.
The production features professional and in-training puppeteers Shenn Apilado, Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete, Mina Camacho, Anna Dalet, Rave Dar Juan, Khen Del Prado, Jem Bravo, Jep Gabon, Sig Pecho, Raymund Ramolete, Roel Ramolete, Harvey Sallador, Vi Soriano, Khurt Apilado, Gian Barcheta, Byron Domingo, Carlo Gaco, Sandra Lorenzo, and Taylor Victoria Palacio.
