Teatro Meron returns this February to March 2026 with a staging of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, directed by Ronan Capinding, at the Special Exhibition Hall of The Mind Museum.
The production is the second stage play to be mounted at the museum, continuing its use of theater as a space for inquiry alongside its scientific programming. Beckett’s tragicomedy engages questions of time, memory, repetition, and meaning—ideas that intersect with both philosophy and scientific thought.
Waiting for Godot follows two men, Estragon and Vladimir, as they wait endlessly for the elusive Godot, filling time with conversation, humor, and moments of despair. At once bleak and funny, the play explores endurance, companionship, and the cyclical patterns of life.
The cast features Jj Ignacio as Estragon and Tarek El Tayech as Vladimir, with John Bernard Sanchez as Pozzo, Lenard Tiongson as Lucky, and Yael Ledesma as the Boy.
Reflecting on the production, Capinding shares:
“This production embraces the tension at the heart of Beckett’s world: the longing for essence, the freedom and anxiety of existence, the illusion of control, and the stubborn need to hope. It is a portrait of humanity standing at the crossroads of meaning and meaninglessness—always on the verge of leaving, yet always choosing to wait.”
Waiting for Godot is Teatro Meron’s third production. The company debuted with Sopranong Kalbo, staged at the Rizal Mini Theater of Ateneo de Manila University, followed by Ang Medea, which served as The Mind Museum’s inaugural stage play in November 2025.
Performances run from February 13 to March 1, with Friday shows at 8 PM, Saturday shows at 3 PM and 8 PM, and Sunday shows at 3 PM and 7 PM. The running time is approximately 90 minutes with a 15-minute interval. Tickets are priced at P2,000 and are available via Ticket2Me.
The show is co-produced by Eastern Communications and Tunog at Liwanag ng Teatro (TLT), with support from Alfred Vargas and the Ateneo de Manila University Department of Philosophy.
