‘Para Kay B’ Reveals New and Returning Cast Members for September Rerun

Para Kay B, the play based on National Artist Ricky Lee’s bestselling novel of the same name, which ran from March 14 to 30, 2025 at The Doreen Black Box Theater, Ateneo de Manila University, is set to return for a limited run this September at the same venue.

Written by Eljay Castro Deldoc, Para Kay B dares to ask the unflinching question: “Sa limang umiibig, isa lang ba talaga ang puwedeng maging maligaya?” The play weaves together five interconnected love stories, each exploring the beauty, chaos, and heartbreak of loving and being loved.

The production is helmed by director Yong Tapang, Jr., who also serves as one of the producers alongside Lambert Angeles, Voltaire de Jesus, Liza Diño, and Ice Seguerra. Also in the creative team are Phi Palmos (creative consultant), Kirby Dunnzell (choreographer), Yabs (technical director), Tops Penafiel (assistant technical director), Raven Ong (costume designer), Hershee Tantiado (associate costume designer), Julia Pacificador (set designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (sound designer), Rio Fermo (associate sound designer), Joyce Garcia (video designer), D Cortezano (lighting designer), Paw Castillo (photographer), James Pe (assistant photographer), and Patrick Edward Montalbo (poster designer).

This team promises a rerun that will not only match but also deepen the emotional impact of its first staging. According to the production, “…the rerun introduces new layers, fresh casting choices, and the reopening of old wounds for both characters and audiences.”

“What makes Para Kay B’s theatrical rerun exciting is the addition of our new cast. Each new actor will bring an interesting flavor not just to the production but to the whole storytelling as well,” director Tapang said in a statement. “Some of our new cast members were able to do Para Kay B even before it was fully staged. It will be a totally different experience from the previous run.”

Returning cast members include Ava Santos (Bessie), Liza Diño (Ester), Martha Comia (Irene), Sarah Garcia (Sandra), Via Antonio (Erica), AJ Benoza (AJ alternate), Esteban Mara (Jake; Briggs alternate), Jay Gonzaga (Jake and Briggs), Aldo Vencilao (Pio, Charlie, and Ruben), Divine Aucina (Mrs. Baylon and Brenda), and Vincent Pajara (Jordan; Lupe alternate).

Joining the cast is Mario Magallona as Lucas, a role previously played by Nicco Manalo. Also joining are Sarina Sasaki (Sara; Bessie understudy), Maria Alilia “Mosang” Bagio (Ester alternate), Ingrid Joyce (Erica understudy; Irene understudy), Phi Palmos (AJ), Manok Nellas (Sara), Drew Espenocilla (Lupe), and Air Paz (Mrs. Baylon and Brenda; Sara understudy).

Para Kay B runs from September 12 to 28 at The Doreen Black Box Theater, Ateneo de Manila University. Tickets are priced at P2,500 and P2,000, available via Ticket2Me.
